Joseph Smith's Last Dwelling Place

AFTER SAYING GOODBYE TO HIS FAMILY FOR THE LAST TIME, Joseph came here to this jail, knowing he would not be returning alive. It was a one way trip.
Carthage Jail was the last place we visited on our tour. The top right pic. shows the cell that is upstairs. Joseph and his friends stayed here for a while, but since it was so very cold, the jail owner and his wife moved downstairs and let them stay in his room. That room is where they were killed.
On the bottom left is the window that Joseph fell out of after being shot.
The middle pic. shows the same window from the outside.
Top right: the door and its bullet holes. Notice the famous hole in the top that shows where the bullet went through and hit Hyrum in the face, almost instantly killing him. There is also another hole by the doorknob.
Bottom right: You can see what it says for yourself: Go to lds.org and look around for more information about Joseph Smith. It's a beautiful, true story, and I'll never be able to write it all as well as former prophets have.

But I can share my testimony of this wonderful man.
I KNOW that he restored the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him in the sacred grove. I know that God did translate the Book of Mormon through him.
I know that the Book of Mormon is true, another testament of our Lord and Savior. I know that Joseph Smith's example will stand until the end. He was a true prophet of God. I love him and can't wait to meet him in the next life. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
