Randy's 16th birthday

MY LITTLE BROTHER IS 16 YEARS OLD! Gah. That is so grown up! 16 is an important age in our church. At 16, worthy young men receive the office of Priest in the Priesthood. (We're LDS, not Catholic. Just to avoid confusion.) The Priests are the young men who bless the Sacrament each Sunday, which is the most sacred ordinance performed in our Sunday meetings each week. It is also at this age that teenagers in our church are finally permitted to date! So at the next Stake LDS youth dance, if Randy finds a girl that he likes, he said he's gonna ask her, "Heyyy I just turned 16...wanna be my first date?" Haha. ;) And, of course, he'll get his license in March. So exciting!

Mommy made Randy a really yummy roasted chicken, mashed potato, green bean, biscuit and gravy dinner--all entirely homemade. Randy was very happy. Being the health nut he is, he did not want us to make him a cake. But he did want Ding Dongs, so we made a plate of 16 of those. For gifts, he wanted Axe hair putty, Doublemint Gum, and Frost Glacier Freeze Gatorade. We all knew this, and Mommy and I made the mistake of buying the same things for him! Oh, well. :) He was actually really surprised about that hair putty...look at his reaction! I think I was happier than he was just to see how grateful he was! Also, notice the bottom left photo: I asked him to smile as he got ready to take a bite of the cake and held the glass in the other hand. He's such a goof ball.

Happy birthday, bubbles!
